DeMolay is a membership organization. It isn't just a place that you go, or a thing that you do. When you join DeMolay it becomes something that you belong to. In fact, it becomes something that you are. Once a young man joins DeMolay, for the rest of his life he can be proud to say "I am a DeMolay". Without members, DeMolay would not exist. Since a DeMolay's active membership ends when he reaches his 21st birthday, we must constantly recruit new members in order to keep the organization living and growing.
DeMolay is too good to keep to ourselves. Every good young man deserves the opportunity that you were given when you were introduced to DeMolay. That's why it is important to make membership recruitment one of your chapter's core goals. Besides being a nice thing to do, sharing the DeMolay experience with others makes DeMolay more fun for you. Larger chapters are able to plan more elaborate events, and more helpers means less work. Plus, more members also means more friends to share the DeMolay experience with.
